SCA Weekend Recap

SCA Weekend Recap
Andrea Fitch
Two words when it comes to SCA Weekend-

HOLY HELL.

Our weekend started on Thursday at our April Roasters Workshop. It was INSANE. We had people from Michigan, Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Canada, Australia, Germany, etc- all gathered together under our Roastery roof and we felt so honored. At first we only had 7 people signed up to roast and leading up to the event, I believe we got to 12 roasters duking it out on the same roaster used in roasting competitions: a Stronghold S7 Pro.

Our friends from the Golden Bean Awards also stopped by to award us with our

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY!!!

We checked out the Expo and met up with some friends there-
And then had a great time at our Closing Ceremony where we cupped the coffee that was roasted at the workshop and chose a winner! Michael Matthews from Alinea Coffee Roasters in New Orleans, LA came out with the top roast profile. Our friend Jason Kelloway of Social Grounds Coffee Roasters came in a close second!
The coffee was a Creamy Pink Bourbon generously donated for the event by our friends at Forest Coffee who we were so happy to spend so much time with.
Check out Michael's winning roast profile before it's gone! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Pilsen Food Pantry
We are so humbled after experiencing SCA Weekend. Check back soon for the May Roasters Workshop results!
