Some coffees come to us with a kind of quiet elegance. They don’t shout for attention—but the more time you spend with them, the more they reveal. This Gesha from Victor Gutierrez is one of those coffees.

Victor was born into coffee. He’s part of the fifth generation in a family of growers who have been working the land since long before specialty coffee had a name. His parents bought their farm in 1975—at a time when the idea of varietals, processing styles, or cup profiles didn’t hold the same weight it does now. Back then, coffee was sustenance. It was survival. It was legacy.

Victor took over in 2010, not just to carry that legacy forward, but to evolve it. With his parents still holding the land, Victor stepped in with both respect and vision. He began introducing new cultivars—among them, the Gesha—widely considered one of the most prized and expressive varietals in the world of coffee. But what sets Victor’s Gesha apart isn’t just the genetics. It’s the intention behind it.

There’s no shortcut to a cup like this.

Every detail—altitude, harvest timing, fermentation, drying—is handled with care. And it shows.

This is a light roast, and it drinks like it. The structure is delicate, almost transparent in places—but never weak. The florals are what you notice first: jasmine, maybe honeysuckle, soft and persistent. Then comes the fruit—bright passion fruit, gentle black cherry. There’s a citrus zip that carries the finish, but it fades in a way that leaves your palate refreshed, not overwhelmed.

It’s the kind of cup that makes you slow down. Not because it demands your attention, but because you don’t want to miss anything.

And behind it all is Victor—a grower who’s honoring his family’s history while shaping its future. That’s the part that stays with you. This isn’t just a Gesha. It’s a story of stewardship. Of humility. Of one farmer’s quiet commitment to doing things well, for the sake of the land and the people who came before him.

And here’s the part we’re especially proud of: this coffee was one of the top lots at the Best of Tolima auction—an annual showcase of some of the finest coffees in the region. We cupped it blind, alongside many other exceptional coffees, and it stopped us in our tracks. The choice was clear. We had to bring it home.
